143 views14/09/2015 - An attempt to get the Diesel Prototype back to its place of manufacture 60 years earlier at the English Electric Works which was at Strand Road.
Earlier in the day -"Courageous" and "Princess" where used for the first time to move the Lindley Oil tankers down the line to the processing works and are now being used to top & tail the Deltic back down to Strand Road.

161 viewsAt the back of the driving position and between the engine compartment, there are some panels - Removing one of the panel covers shows the state of the electrics - bakealite switches. Not very safe after 60 years. These would all have to be replaced with modern switch gear and all upgraded before it would be allowed to run again.
